Delegates are the Republicans who actually pick our nominees and our party leadership. Any registered Chesapeake voter can be one. Here is how it works.
1Qualify
Be a registered voter in Chesapeake who is in accord with the principles of the Republican Party. That is the whole eligibility bar — there are no dues or seniority requirements to serve as a delegate.
2Watch for the Official Call
Before every mass meeting or convention, the committee publishes an Official Call. It states the date, time, location, filing deadline, and any filing fee. Nothing else is official until the Call goes out.
3File by the Deadline
Submit the delegate prefiling form named in the Call before the deadline. Some units accept walk-in registration on the day, but prefiling is the only way to guarantee your seat.
4Show Up and Vote
Attend, get certified at credentials, and cast your vote for nominees and party leadership. Delegates are how ordinary Republicans decide who carries our banner in November.
